Scarborough, with pristine sands and crystal waters, is
the most popular beach in Western Australia and renowned throughout the world
as a surfing beach.
In the early morning, the beach is alive with walkers, joggers, Surf Life Saving
Club members at training, swimmers, body surfers, board riders, fishermen and
sightseers. Later in the day, family groups and sunbathers replace the exercise
enthusiasts. The arrival of the sea breeze provides ideal conditions for wind
surfing. Family groups and sightseers move to the shady grassed areas during the
heat of the day.
A strong and efficient Surf Life Saving Club ensures the safety of all beach users.
Scarborough is one of the few beaches in Australia that meets all of the criteria
laid down for conducting Australian Surf Championships and and its Surf Club has
been honoured with more Australian and State Carnivals than any other Surf Club
in Australia.
Scarborough can be a treacherous beach. A SURF RESCUE team is
ready for action.
The wide, sandy beach stretches south from Scarborough, as far
as the eye can see.
